Jordan Family Language House

The Jordan Family Language House is the first residence hall on campus specifically designed to encourage the study of foreign languages. Native speakers in each language live in the residence as language assistants to help 48 residents engaged in on-campus study of Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

Admission to the language house is by application, typically due in March. Residents are normally required to have completed at least one year of study in the target language.

Language House residents are required to enroll in course 226, which carries .5 credits. Weekly house meetings, weekly individual meetings with the house language assistant, attendance at language table (held in Wright Campus Center), and monthly Sunday house dinners are all features of this course that help students gain greater fluency in the target language.
